Here are more compliments for the new and very exciting show with even more performance praise:)
In the new Showtime drama, “Billions,” Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) is a Master of the Universe, a guy from humble beginnings who has risen to be a hedge-fund billionaire.
United States Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), who grew up in comfortable affluence, is proud of his perfect record in putting away shady high rollers from the world of New York finance.
Both men are ambitious, ruthless, and laser-focused on winning at all costs. The high-stakes fun in “Billions” is watching them circle each other, with Axelrod making deals, and Rhoades trying to catch him in something illegal.
Just in case we miss the alpha dog dance between these two testosterone titans, the first episode includes a scene where the Axelrod family dog is literally marking his territory.
It may not be subtle, but thanks to razor-sharp writing, and dynamic performances by Giamatti, Lewis (as with “Homeland,” deploying a persuasive American accent) and everyone in the strong cast, “Billions” is dark, edgy and outrageously entertaining.
